Where to see Wapentac over the next few months.......
'Designed to Shine - 100 years of Stainless Steel' at the Millennium Gallery, Sheffield. 16th February - 13th October Delighted
to be included in this exhibition that celebrates 100 years since
Stainless Steel was discovered by Harry Brearley, in Sheffield. This development not only revolutionized the modern world, but shaped Sheffield into the city as we know it today. Wapentac are exhibiting along side iconic designers from the last century, including David Mellor and Ron Arad.
A range of Peak District Wapenmaps, Map'n'lites & Botanical Illustrations will be available from the Millennium Gallery Shop

November News We have had a very busy few weeks at The Great Peak District Fair, Beady Eye Pop Up Gallery and The Weekend Shopping Company event. Had a great response to our maps and other products.
The latest addition to our range of products is the 'ISA : Individual Savings Apertures' Easy to post / easy to save Money Box Lids Click image to enlarge Our next event is at the Harley Gallery Christmas Arts & Food Market and Harley Open Studios Saturday 24 November, 10am - 5pm Sunday 25 November, 10am - 4pm 'Browse art and craft stalls, from jewellery to glass and ceramics, all handpicked by The Harley Gallery. There will be plenty to tempt your taste buds, with stalls from local and specialist food producers with the Welbeck Farm Shop Food Market. You can try cheese, beer, bread and chocolate made on the Welbeck Estate, and chat with the food producers. Get a behind the scenes look at life as an artist by visiting the Harley Open Studios, a very short walk from the market. Here you'll get to meet the artists, talk about their work and have a peek into their studios, as well as being able to choose and buy work directly from the makers.'  October News A little feedback first. We
had a fabulous time at the PDA Great Dome Art Fair. Alison Counsell was
selected as Best Artist in the Visual Art category of the Buxton Fringe
Festival. The 'Jardiniere' created with Sue Gorman raised £180.00 for Helen's Trust.

are invited to The Great Peak District Fair 13 & 14 October at The
Pavilion Gardens, St. John's Road, Buxton, Derbyshire, SK17 6B. We will exhibiting with 25 Peak District Artisans in the Pavillion Arts Theatre.

(£15 from the sale of coloured Wapenmap, £10 from the plain stainless steel Wapenmap and £35 from the Coniston WapenboX) Please note this donation will apply to Wapenmaps bought directly from Wapentac. We had a fabulous time at the Peak District Artisans Spring Showcase at
Haddon Hall in March. Wapentac were in 'the Bakery'! It is a fabulous space just past the kitchen.........but freezing cold! Here are some before and after images.

Wapentac have had a great response at Rufford Craft Centre - Peak District Artisans in 'An Artisan's Christmas' is on until 2nd January. (details below). I will be there on the 18th December Rock & Fell Paul has set up a great new website about walking
'Cartography Curiosity' We have been featured in 'Cartographiti' the August issue of The British Cartography Society - Map Curators' Group.
Georabbler Martin von Wyss ( vw maps) included the Wapenmap in his presentation about 3D tactile maps to the Melbourne Georabble Group
Our big news is The National Library of Australia, Canberra have purchased the 'Down Under' series for their map collection. The series includes 'Down Under : Altitude', 'Down Under : Temperature' and 'Down Under : Rainfall'.
Wapentac are exhibiting at a couple of venues:
- With the Peak District Artisans in 'An Artisan's Christmas' at the Rufford Craft Centre . 15th November 2011 - 2nd January 2012. 10.30am - 5pm everyday except Christmas day. This is set in the wonderful Rufford Abbey Country Park.
- at the Christmas Craft & Food Fair at Kedleston Hall . Wapentac are stall 15 in 'Caesars Hall'. We will be showing the full range of Wapenmaps, Map'n'lites and Botanical Illustrations.

District Artisans Great Dome Art Fair in Buxton a few weeks ago. They
were well received and the full range of hand painted enamel Lake District Wapenmaps

Wapentac
took part in the Peak District Artisan Show at Haddon Hall in April. We
had a stand in the Dining Room, a fabulous atmospheric oak lined room. Haddon Hall is well worth visiting.
Our new Botanical Illustrations proved popular, so we will be looking at building on the variety of plant species.
The 'April Special Offer' : a free Lathkill Dale Wapenmap with every order, also proved very popular, so we will be repeating offers in the future. So keep an eye out!
Wapentac took part in the Galvanize Metal Market at the Millennium Gallery, Sheffield. We had a great day. Our most popular Wapenmap for the day was Mam Tor. It was also our first public outing of our Botanical Illustrations, and we received a great response to these. The Galvanize Festival of Contemporary Metalwork is on until the 24 April, so it is worth trying to see some of the other events.
We have 4 types of flora in our Botanical Illustration range. Cosmea (Cosmos), 'Star of the Veldt' (Dimorphotheca), Barrenwort (Epmedium) and Flax (Linum). Each plant is an exquisitely detailed three dimensional floral drawing mounted on parchment paper and framed in a black box frame. So no work is required from you here! The Outdoors Show
We are getting ready for The Outdoors Show in March. On the Wapentac stand you will be able to see the full range of Wapenmap plus some new ones and also a new product that allows you to display your Wapenmap in a whole new way. We would love to see you all on the stand, its stand number OU705 right next to Silva Compass.
New Wapenmap
We will be launching some new Wapenmap for the show. The Ben Nevis Wapenmap is absolutely stunning and we think that this is going to be a major attraction. We have also got Pen-Y-Fan another new Wapenmap that extends the Brecon Beacons range.
The WapenboX
We have developed a wall mounted frame that allows you to show your Wapenmap off in a new way. The Wapenbox lets you mount your Wapenmap along with a picture or a drawing or some writing you feel is relevant. We will be launching these at the show so make sure you come on to the stand.
Wapentac around the world
We have been receiving orders from around the world including Canada, the USA, Germany, Australia. Interest is growing in the Wapenmap and we will now be looking to extend the range beyond the British Isles. So if you have an area you think might look good on a Wapenmap lets us know.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park
The Yorkshire Sculpture Park having heard about Wapentac and the Wapenmap have now started to stock the Wapenmap range in their wonderful shop. If you have never been to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park you are missing a real treat. It has a fantastic visitor centre and gallery showing innovative and challenging art. A superb restaraunt that serves great food and whats better looks out over 500 acres of park land filled with contemporary art works. You can stroll through the park for a whole day and just lose yourself. All this and its just of junction 38 of the M1
